Mahesh Raj Mohan

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my website. I am Mahesh Raj Mohan. I was born and raised in Oklahoma, and I now live outside Portland, Oregon with my wife Sara. Aside from being a husband, son, and brother, I am a freelance writer and editor.

If you need print ads, television commercials, technical writing, web content, blog posts, reviews, articles, fiction, or haiku, I love to write and edit all kinds of content.

I've been published by Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper The Oregonian, and I've been a blogger for New Equity Business, a consultancy and St. Johns Health Center.

In 2011, my screenplay, Indian Errand Day, won the Willamette Writers Kay Snow Award (second place for screenwriting).

With the exception of canvassing for America Coming Together, all of my paying jobs have been related to writing or editing.

Copywriting and Website Content:

I've written print ads for large companies like Portland Spirit River Cruise Dining and and Columbia River Adventures.
I developed content for several websites, including a self-publishing service, personal trainer, and business services company.
I've written brochure content for Maid to Shine Cleaning and the Authority of Panama.
I've created Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and blog campaigns designed to heighten a company's prominence in organic search listings.
My guest blog post, "Business Plan Writers: Know Your Audience" has garnered 45 "re-tweets" and more than 160 page views.

Book Editing:

I edit both non-fiction and fiction books. I recently edited books on evolution/biology and accounting.
I have more than 10 years of experience with publishers, agents, and editors. I can help walk you through the book submission process.
I offer all levels of editing:

Conceptual (helping you organize topics and themes)
Copyediting (offering suggestions and enhancing textual clarity)
Line editing (checking spelling, grammar, and punctuation)
Proofreading (typo-hunting)

Business/Technical Writing:

I spent more than five years at MasterPlans, the leading business plan writing firm. I started as a writer/editor and eventually became Chief Editor, managing three to five editors. I lost count of the number of business and technical documents I wrote or edited, but it's probably in the 2,000-5,000 range.
I am knowledgeable about healthcare, clean tech, financial services, information technology, and numerous hardware/software applications (including Software-as-a-Service models and cloud computing networks).
I have written about cutting edge technologies, including thin film photovoltaics (TFPVs); dried distillers grains and solids (DDGS) production; Voice-over Internet Protocols (VoIP); and cyclotrons.
I am equally comfortable writing/editing short documents, as well as in-depth and detailed material.

Reviews and Articles:

Several of my articles, interviews, and reviews have been published by Hugo Award-nominated Strange Horizons.
Others have been published by the Internet Review of Science Fiction.
My review of the film Serenity (written with Niall Harrison) won the 2005 Readers Choice Award for Best Review.
